On 8th February, 2018 the International Office (IO) and the Iranian Cultural Council organized an Artistic Performance of Deaf Art Group “Speaking Hands” on the occasion of 39th Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.  The event had participation of Iranian deaf performers, who had especially flown to Pakistan for the purpose, and 50 Pakistani special children, along with their teachers, who had come on the behest of the Director General, Special Education and Mr. Zulfiqar, Deputy Director, Special Education.

Guests were warmly welcomed by the International Office; and special care was taken to address the needs of the special children.  Recitation of the Holy Quran was the first highlight of the event.  In his welcome address, Dr. Qadeer, Associate Head (EE) underscored the significance of the event and added that CIIT always welcomes holding of such events both as part of its outreach to the different segments of the community and especially for children with special needs.

A total of four performances were delivered by the Iranian Deaf Group on Iranian National Anthem and on different musical themes, followed by two performances by Pakistani deaf school children on Pakistani National Anthem.

The audience was thrilled at the performances and appreciated that despite being challenged the deaf individuals of both countries found a happy medium to communicate and express themselves.

Mr. Shahaboddin Baraei, Iranian Cultural Counsellor, profusely thanked and appreciated the efforts made by IO to organize the event and also specially thanked Mr. Zulfiqar, Deputy Director, Special Education, for bringing fifty school children, along with their teachers, to make this event more memorable. He also committed that whenever CIIT wants to send its cultural troupe to Iran, he will extend his full support.

In the end, certificates were distributed / presented to all the participants.  A group photograph was taken to keep the memories alive. Later all the guests and the children were feted with a nice lunch.
