The International Office and COMSATS Art Gallery of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), in association with the Cultural Consulate Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamabad, Pakistan organized a traditional Iranian Musical Performance on November 21, 2019 in CUI Islamabad campus. It was performed by six member Iranian band name Ava-e-Barbod. at CUI Mr. Jamal Shah was the chief guest of the event. He is the Director General, Pakistan National Council of the Arts, Islamabad and a famous Pakistani actor, director, painter, social worker, script writer singer and song writer. The Iranian Musical Band especially came to Pakistan on the invitation of Mr. Jamal Shah for participating in the Islamabad Art Festival 2019.
With a cordial welcome, the Iranian guests were received by the team of International Office. The program started with the opening of a Group Art Exhibition set up by COMSATS Art Gallery and a sufi folk songs performance by Mr. Wajid Kamran, Deputy Registrar Admin at CUI which was greatly enjoyed and lauded by the gathering and Iranian musicians.
Followed by a walk through the exhibition, the Iranian musicians staged truly captivating and colorful musical performance to entertain the audience with its classical melodies. People from various walks of life, including prominent artists, CUI faculty, staff and students attended the event. They were greatly charmed as the talented Iranian Musicians set into playing their enchanting music with the unique combinational use of Persian tar and the background Persian daf. The marvelous vocal and instrumental presentations were lauded with thunderous claps of the audience.
The event successfully ended with a group photo and serving of refreshments for the guests.
