Dr. Toqeer Ahmed, Assistant Professor, CCRD, CUI visited ETH Zurich and Hydrosolutions Ltd at Zurich, Switzerland between 29 Sept. 2019 to 05 Oct 2019 for consultative project meeting in the framework of SDC funded project. Two persons, Dr. Toqeer Ahmed (Principal Investigator of the SDC funded Project) and Engr. Faizan ul Hassan (Project partner/ Collaborator, PCRWR, Islamabad) from Pakistan were invited to participate in the said meeting to share the outcomes of the project of applying water metering and pricing in Pakistan and to discuss future agenda. Project progress was discussed during the meetings and a presentation was given by PCRWR representative to scientists regarding different projects related to water research. Visit was arranged by Professor Dr. Wolfgang Kinzelbach and Dr. Haijing Wang to Rhine River project between Austria and Switzerland, Schynige Platte, Water Supply, Effretikon as an example of applying water meters and water supply to Zurich. The support received from ETH Zurich is highly acknowledged.

A five member delegation from Chonqing Industry Polytechnic College CQIPC, led by its Vice President Mr. Xu Yi visited CUI Lahore and Islamabad campuses from 24th-28th September, 2019. The other experts in the delegation were Deans from Faculty of Information Engineering and Faculty of Vehicle Engineering, Chairman Shihao Locomobile Manufacturing Co. Chongqing along with their coordinator Ms. Yang Yin. Delegation members were given detailed campus tours at Lahore and Islamabad campuses. They were shown state of the art facilities available for students at both the campuses. 

Various meetings of the delegates were held with CUI officials at Lahore campus for exploring mutual areas to work on. Several growing research areas were also identified for future cooperation.

At CUI, Islamabad campus, Prof. Dr. Junaid Mughal, Incharge Academics, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, Dean Faculty of Engineering CUI and Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head International Office and Incharge China Study Center with his team had a meeting with the delegation where mutual areas of collaboration were discussed. Dean Faculty of Engineering gave a brief presentation about CUI and Department of EE. President CQIPC proposed CUI student enrollment in IT and Automotive related programs offered at CQIPC. CUI side agreed to proceed ahead in accordance with the rules and regulations laid by PEC and HEC for such collaborative programs.
The visit was concluded on a high note after the exchange of mementoes and a group photo.

The CEO of ‘Papers Miracles and JOBS Group’ Mr. Imran Shauket along with his colleagues Ms. Elli Takagakki and Ms Saadia visited COMSATS University Islamabad on 2nd October 2019. Incharge China Study Center Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch along with his team warmly welcomed the delegation.

The delegate had a tour of the campus. They appreciated the facilities provided to the students of thee university. Incharge China Study Center briefed them about COMSATS University Islamabad and China Study Center.

The areas of mutual interests were discussed and was agreed that the Papers Miracles will teach and train students and faculty members about techniques of reusing plastic for the daily use. It was suggested that a lecture series with students on environmentally conscious projects like Plastic and Sunny Miracles to protect our environment, reduce post-harvest losses and ensure food security will be also delivered at CUI to create the awareness.

The interaction proved to be very useful and ended with presentation of souvenirs to guests.

An Advisory Board of China Study Center (CSC) of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan was constituted in year 2013 to provide strategic guidance to the CSC with a view to leveraging it as a premier entity pertaining to Pak China relationships in academic and cultural fields. The board assumes special significance since it comprises of eminent personalities both from Pakistan and China.

th Advisory Board Meeting was held in Lahore on 3rd September 2019. Members of Advisory Board and Chinese universities alumni of CUI Lahore campus participated in the meeting. Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch Incharge China Study Center, briefed the members about the activities carried out by CSC.
Dr. Aamir Daar, President, Chinese Universities Alumni Association pointed out that China Study Center should also promote the Chinese culture and Chinese way of life. He also suggested to organize moon cake festival of China at CUI.

Mr. Fu Jun, member of Advisory Board of CSC emphasised on the importance of introducing a large number of Chinese language courses to benefit maximum number of students of CUI and others. He also ensured to provide his full support to the China Study Center at the CUI.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Asif, one of the senior Chinese University Alumni Associate suggested that all the information about the Chinese delegation visiting CUI, upcoming collaborative research opportunities and Chinese Scholarships opportunities should be communicated in all the campuses to get the maximum benefits.   

It was mutually agreed that a chapter of China Study Center will be started in all campuses of CUI. It was also decided to organize an annual grand meeting of Chinese Universities Alumni. The interaction proved to be very useful and ended with presentation of souvenirs to the participant.

Mr. Ali Tawab, Incharge China Study Center thanked all the present members of the Advisory Board and Chinese Universities Alumni for their valuable input and participation in the meeting

A delegation from Yunnan Academy of Social Science visited COMSATS University Islamabad Campus on 20th September 2019. The delegation was led by Dr . Sheng Xiangxing, Vice President , Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, Ms. Gu Shenghua , Deputy Director, Library affiliated to Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences , Ms. Li Min, Associate Professor, Pakistan Research Center, Institute of South Asia Studies, Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. He Ruifang, Research Assistant, Institute of South Asia Studies, Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. Zhou Yue, Junior Research Fellow, Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences.

The Representatives from COMSATS University Islamabad includes Dean Faculty of Science, Dean Faculty of Business Administration, Head Center for Policy Studies, HoD Department of Humanities and IR, Dr. Aaliya Moin Zafar, and Head International Office & China Study Center and his team.

The Head, International Office & Incharge, China Study Center along-with his team of International Office (IO) and team of China Study Center (CSC) warmly welcomed the guests. The formal meeting was held between the delegates and CUI officials. The Dean Sciences briefed about CUI. The members discussed about enhancing the mutual understandings, strengthening the bilateral cooperation and expanding the people to people contacts between Pakistan and China. Overview of China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Pakistani History, Cultural Protection and Tourism Cooperation between Pakistan and Yunnan Province was also discussed.

The interaction proved to be very useful and ended with presentation of souvenirs to guests.
