Prof. Li Zhenyu, Dean, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University, China visited COMSATS University Islamabad. This was a reciprocal visit from Tongji University after the Dean Faculty Architecture and Design, Prof. Dr. Samra Mohsin Khan was invited on a visit to Tongji University in the month of May 2019. The objective of the visit was to sign collaboration document between the two universities.

Prof. Li visited Architecture Department of CUI and witnessed an Art Exhibition on display at COMSATS Art Gallery. Following the visit of CAG, a formal meeting was held which was chaired by Prof. Samra Mohsin. The meeting was attended by HoD Department of Architecture & Design along-with selected faculty members of the department. The Head International Office and In charge China Study Center, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch with his team also attended the meeting.

Detailed presentation was given about Architecture department of CUI containing the details of academic and outreach activities. Architectural designs from different student projects and thesis work were displayed. Another detailed presentation was delivered by the Department Chairperson Ms. Ayesha Imdad on Cultural Heritage Projects in South Punjab illustrating how small dying crafts of Sothern Punjab like embellished textile, pottery, bone carving, pit loom weaving etc. are being converted into products aiming to help eliminate poverty from these areas.

Prof. Dr. Li Zhenyu also shared the facts, ranking, working, strong international partnerships and achievements of CAUP. He explained how all the architectural research and development of designs created at CAUP are focused on future, green beauty, digital fabrication and protection of world heritage. 

Following the presentations, a Document of Understanding was signed between CUI and Tongji University. The delegate called on Rector CUI. Different possibilities of collaboration and future road map of activities jointly conceived by both universities were discussed. The Rector presented memento to Prof. Zhenyu.
