The Government of Azerbaijan for past four years has been organizing a world wide essay competition in countries like Netherlands, USA, Brazil, South Africa, Morocco, Croatia, France, Italy, Russia, Egypt, China, Switzerland, Albania, and Lithuania.But 2017 being declared as an Islamic Solidarity Year by the Republic of Azerbaijan, its diplomatic missions that are accredited in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced the essay competition only in those countries.
This competition wasopento the Pakistani youth between 18-29 years. The Azeri Embassy received more than 200 essays on the topic of “What do I know about Azerbaijan?” The Embassy shortlisted essays of top 10 participants and invited them for face-to-face interview. In the final tally top 5 contestants were declared winners of the contest and will be able to tour for one week (17-23 September 2017) the beautiful country of Azerbaijan .A great source of honor and pride for COMSATS Institute of Information Technology is that out of the5 finalists3 are the alumni of our Institute. The three winners are Ms. Tahira Abdullah (MBA Islamabad campus); Ms. Shazma Gul (BS Biosciences Islamabad campus)and Mr. QaiserNawab (BS Electrical Power Engineering, Abbottabad campus) .The winners of the competition from different OIC member countries will visit the historical and cultural sites, HeydarAliyev Center, ADA University, Ismayilli, Gabala and Shaki cities and will acquaint with rich cultural and historical heritage of Azerbaijan.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, H.E. Ali Alizadecongratulated the successful participants and appreciated the maximum participation of CIIT in the competition. He further assured to design and announce new programs for the youths of Pakistan in close collaboration with different top ranking universities, particularly CIIT.The ambassador thanked the winners for their interest in Azerbaijan.
