The International Office CUI, in collaboration with British Council Pakistan organized a Student Awareness Session on "Commonwealth Shared Scholarships" on Tuesday 26 November, 2019. The session was focused on sharing information regarding a range of commonwealth scholarships which are open to Pakistani applicants. This includes PhD, masters, post-doc fellowships. Ms. Khadija Amir was the resource person for the session. She is an environmental specialist with core expertise and qualification in environmental sustainability holding a master’s degree in Sustainable Development from University of Exeter (UK) for which she secured the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. She is currently working as a Senior Manager Programs at Sustainable Environmental Solutions.

Ms. Khadija having the firsthand experience of securing the commonwealth scholarship herself shared valuable insights with the students. Topics covered in the session ranged from introduction to the commission, to the two main streams of scholarships, to the timeline, eligibility criteria, application pre-requisites, application process, selection process, funding and the duration of the scholarships. The session was choke full of students of 7th and 8th semester from all the departments of CUI targeting to get their Masters and PhD degrees from UK universities. The students were provided with step by step guidance in the session. Furthermore, the resource person shared helpful tips, tricks, dos and don’ts for the potential applicants in good detail.

Head IO, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, thanked Ms. Khadija and British Council for conducting this in-depth session for the students. A token of appreciation was presented by him to the guest speaker. Mr. Ali Tawab motivated the students to capitalize this fully funded scholarship opportunity and encouraged them to visit the International Office website regularly, where similar fully funded scholarship opportunities are uploaded. He assured them of full facilitation and guidance from his office. In the end he appreciated the IEEE student society for helping to organize this successful event.
