Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, Executive Director, COMSATS Secretariat and Chairman, Board of Governors, CIIT visited CIIT on 7th June 2011.The visit was to apprize the senior members of CIIT faculty regarding his visit and meeting at the Centre of Excellence in Brazil on 21-24 May and the deliberations which took place at the COMSATS 14th Coordinating Council Meetings held at Bogotan, Colombia on 26-27 May 2011. The visit was facilitated by Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, Advisor (IL) and Dr. Tariq ur Rehman, Advisor (Germany Desk) who gave a cordial welcome to Dr Qureshi.
During his visit to CIIT, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi chaired seven marathon sessions of back to back meetings and took briefings from relevant CIIT officials, by highlighting various follow up actions emanating from the meeting’s future role which CIIT has to play regarding its participation in CERN and ALICE programmes. He also elaborated the actions which need to be taken in connection with the Internet Security Workshop in Damascus and the proposed ISESCO Workshop to be held in Lahore and Dubai. He was pleased to inform the participants that ‘thematic groups report’ which was under consideration for some years was approved in the recently Coordinating Council Meeting.
Dr Amir Haider Malik, Foreign Faculty Professor at Meteorology Department CIIT informed the Executive Director COMSATS about the steps which he is taking for organizing the workshop on “Sustainable development of Water Resources and Climate” This workshop will be organized in Islamabad during November 2011 COMSATS, UNESCO, DAAD and HEC are sponsoring the proposed the three day activity. Prof. Raheel Qamar, Dr. Muhammad Azim and Dr. Mansoor Baig gave him a detailed presentation about the initiatives which CIIT is taking for the establishment of Business Incubation Center at its premises. The BIC is expected to mould itself into a Technology Park in the future.
Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi appreciated and commended the efforts which CIIT is taking towards the Internationalization of the Institute.
