Abstract:
Teamed with World Wide Web, multimedia has become an indispensable part of modern computer technology. Multimedia is a combination of technologies and represents information in a variety of different formats, standards and media such as text, graphics, images, drawings, sound, music, animation and full motion video. Today's most common definition of multimedia requires incorporation and use of such information in conjunction with computing technology. Use and applications of multimedia technology is continuously increasing and range from that in entertainment industry to medicine, science and technology. Internet provides an easy forum to blend such a mix of information through World Wide Web (WWW) both in interactive and non-interactive environments. This presentation is aimed to provide an overview of the basic concepts of multimedia systems and their contents along with an overview of its uses, issues and techniques.
