The Department of Management Sciences organized an Industrial visit of BS(BA) & BS(AF) semester 4th and 5th students  on November 26, 2019 at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce (RCCI), Rawalpindi in connection with the celebrations  of “5th Global Entrepreneurship Week”. The Departmental Industrial Liaison Committee consisting of Assistant Professor, Dr. Muhammad Yar Khan, Dr Majid Jamal and Lecturer, Sikandar Wali were also accompanied with the students during visit.  
The main focus of the visit was to enhance awareness on entrepreneurial idea generation, screening and its careful selection. The students were briefed on the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and ways to handle challenges. Additionally, the students and faculty members had a meeting with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce representatives to discuss the future avenues of collaboration to strengthen the linkages between academia and industry, student placement, internships opportunities and joint seminars. The student attended Entrepreneurial Seminar presented by the guest speakers the advisor to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Mr. Usman Dar and President (RCCI), Malik Shahid Saleem.

Industrial Visit, RCCI

On Tuesday September 24 & Wednesday September 25, 2019, students of Section-BME-3A &3B along with Faculty members of Department of Mechanical Engineering, CUI Wah campus visited Centaurus Mall Islamabad to study heating and cooling system.

Students learned about Centaurus Chiller Plant. It was a good experience as they visualized the practical application of theoretical knowledge and they saw about various mechanical operations carried out there. During visit to plant they came to know about working of absorption chillers and thermodynamics of it’s cycle. They were also briefed about different parts of absorption chiller including heat generators, cooling towers and evaporators.

On Wednesday March 20, 2019, students of Section-A along with Faculty members of Department of Mechanical Engineering, CUI Wah campus visited BESTWAY Cement Plant, a one of Pakistan’s leading cement manufacturing plant at Farooqia.

Students learn about cement manufacturing process and it’s steps of manufacturing. It was a good experience as they visualized the practical application of theoretical knowledge and they saw about various mechanical operations carried out there. During visit to plant they came to know about working of Kiln, conveyor belts mechanism, pneumatic systems and dust collectors. They whole layout of cement manufacturing process from mining to packing was briefed in detail to students by plant engineer.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged industrial visit of BS (ME)- first semester (section A-B) students to KSB Pumps Company Ltd, Hassanabdal on January 16 & 23, 2019 under the supervision of faculty members. The students visited the machine shop to observed different machining operations, foundry section where they were guided about the complex details and processes involved in a casting operation. The students also observed different tests that are performed on casted parts in a laboratory. In the last, the students visited the services section and learnt how the defective parts are repaired and what exclusive services are provided by the KSB Hassanabdal.

On December 13, 2018, students of Section-B along with Faculty members of Department of Mechanical Engineering, CUI Wah campus visited BESTWAY Cement Plant a one of Pakistan’s leading cement manufacturing plant at Farooqia. This plant has recently upgraded from 3500 ton production to 10000 ton and the students were able to see the different operations and sections of the plant in detail from mining to packing and loading. In addition, waste heat recovery process of 12MW implemented by BESTWAY was a great learning experience for faculty and students. They also learned how important is our environment and its preservation.
