Visit Report of Delegation of University of Malaya, Malaysia to CIIT
From April 15-19, 2013
Following three member delegation of the University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia visited CIIT form April 15-19, 2013 to interview the potential candidates of CIIT under its Bright Spark Program;. A copy of the Visit Programme is attached.

- Dr. Laiha Mat Kiah, Associate Prof / Dy. Dean (Post Graduate).
- Dr. Abdullah Gani, Associate Prof / Dy. Dean (Research).
On April 16, 2013 the guests were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mohsin, Dean, Faculty of Information Sciences & Technology. The Dean and Deputy Deans of UM visited 3D Lab of Ms. Sadaf Sajjad and the Central Library of CIIT. The visitors were highly impressed by the well equipped laboratory an appreciated the facilities of the central library. Subsequently, the meeting of the UM delegation was held with the Ph.D Faculty members of Computer Science Department of CIIT Islamabad Campus at Conference Room. After having lunch, Interviews of twenty seven (27) potential Candidates of Islamabad Campus was held.
Early in the morning of April 17, 2013 the delegation departed for Abbottabad Campus for conducting interviews of potential candidates of CIIT Abbottabad Campus. The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Sajjad A. Madani, Chairman, Department of Computer Science. Dr. Madani briefed the delegation about the progress of Abbottabad Campus and various research groups working in the Department of Computer Science of Abbottabad Campus. The delegation appreciated the progress and research work done by Mr. Atta Ur Rehman and Mr. Nasir (Bright Spark Scholars of Abbottabad Campus doing Ph.D in UM). Twenty candidates were interviewed. This was followed by a short visit of the Campus.
On April 18, 2013 interview of potential candidates of CIIT Lahore, Vehari and Sahiwal Campus was held in the premises of CIIT Islamabad Campus. Out of 28 nominated candidates, 23 were present for the interviews.
On 19 April, 2013 the delegation visited Wah Campus for conducting interviews of the twenty (20) faculty members and students of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Departments of CIIT Wah and Attock Campus for possible award of scholarships. The delegation also convened a meeting with PhD Faculty Members of Computer Science Department for exploring joint research projects in future. The delegation also visited Taxila Museum and historical places located in the vicinity.
After visiting CIIT Wah Campus the delegation met with Dr. Sajjad Mohsin in his Office, and discussed further steps which need to be taken to strengthen the collaboration between UM and CIIT. It was also agreed that the delegation will inform CIIT about the final selection of the candidates after seeking approval of the Vice Chancellor, University of Malaya.
Before the departure of the delegation, souvenirs of the two institutions were exchanged on the note that efforts should be made to further strengthen professional ties between the two institutions.

Delegates from University of Malaya Visits Library

A three member delegation headed by Professor Dr. Siti Salwah Salim (Dean, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology) visited the library during their scheduled visit to CIIT (Islamabad Campus) on 16th April 2013.
During their visit to the library, the delegation was facilitated by the Chief Librarian, who took them to the various sections of the library and briefed them about the facilities, services and resources available for the COMSIANS.
At the end of the visit a group photo was taken outside the library building with the CIIT officials.

A delegation of the University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia headed by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato Tan Sri Ghauth Jasmon and senior faculty members as below visited CIIT on September 08, 2012 to explore the possible avenues of collaboration between the two institutions;

- Mr. Yusoff Musa, Acting Registrar, UM, Malaysia.
- Prof. Dr Noor Azina Ismail, Dean, Faculty of Economics and Administration, UM, Malaysia
- Prof. Dr Saad Mekhilef, Head of Department (Electrical Engineering), UM, Malaysia.
- Dr. Jagdish Kaur, Deputy Director, International and Corporate Relations Office, UM, Malaysia,
The guests were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Dean (Faculty of Business Administration), Prof. Dr. Izhar Hussain, (Registrar), Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mohsin, Dean (Faculty of Information Sciences & Technology), Prof. Dr. Shahzad A. Malik, Dean (Faculty of Engineering). The Vice Chancellor and the officials of University of Malaya, Malaysia visited the Department of Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology Laboratory and Central Library of CIIT. The visitors were highly impressed by the well equipped laboratories an appreciated the facilities of the central library. Subsequently, the meeting of the UM delegation was held with the Rector at Rector’s Conference Room.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Malaya, Malaysia has announced that 10-15 CIIT Faculty members may be sent to UM, Malaysia under its fully funded ‘Bright Spark Program .The Vice Chancellor of UM, Malaysia has also invited the Deans of CIIT to visit UM, Malaysia and meet with their respective counterparts at UM to discuss future collaboration in various areas. Local hospitality will be provided by the UM, Malaysia. Similarly, thirty students hailing from various departments of CIIT will also be welcomed to visit UM, Malaysia under its Students’ Exchange Programme.
A Memorandum of Understanding between COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and University of Malaya (UM) was signed by the heads of two institutions. The MoU will herald a new era of cooperation between CIIT and UM. Finally, the meeting ended with a vote of thanks to each other and also exchange of shields and souvenirs.
