With deep sorrow, we share the demise news of Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad, Advisor at Department of Meteorology, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on December 22, 2019 after suffering from heart illness for several years. He joined CUI in 2007 and after 10 years of devoted services, he retired with pride and honor in 2017. His intellectual contributions to CUI were enumerable. He was an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated person who inspired all with whom he had worked. His peers at the university appreciated him as a humble human being, one always ready to help others. Prof. Muhammad had a long and distinguished teaching career in the field of human geography, cartography and anthropology. During his tenure, he supervised numerous MS research students. Not only in Pakistan, his services were recognized internationally as well. He was a visiting Prof. at University of Berlin, Germany and University of Rome, Italy. Aside from teaching, Prof. Muhammad had also worked efficiently on many key administrative tasks. He had voluntarily worked with UNESCO for a brief period of time. He was a Member of Association for Asian Studies Ann Arbor Michigan, Fellow of Royal Geographical Society London and a Member of Pakistan Geographical Association.
There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. We are sad for his loss, both personally and professionally. He will be missed by his peers, colleagues, friends, and family. He has left behind rich memories of achievements and inspiration for everyone. The Department of Meteorology mourns his death and extends condolences to his family, friends and colleagues around the world. Though he had retired from worldly duties satisfied, he has not withdrawn from our midst. He will continue to be the focal point for alumnae and faculty who need inspiration, advice and courage. He will always be remembered for his deeply professional attitude, problem solving capabilities, organizational and management skills, excellent judgment and calm behavior.
