The 5th Training Session titled “Smart Selling and Effective Customer Service” was held on 22 November, 2021 (Monday) at SSBC ground floor hall from 11:30 am to 1300 hours. Wherein Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan delivered talk on the above topic.

An Orientation session on “International English Language Testing System” (IELTS) was held in SSBC building at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad Campus on November 12, 2021. The session is part of activities, organized under the program “Information Seminars for Higher Studies Abroad” with the objective to educate and orient CUI prospective candidates with respect to selecting, preparing, financing and applying for higher studies abroad.

The purpose of the session was to guide young faculty/staff members and students for preparing the IELTS (Academic). Ms. Saba Bahareen Mansur, Assistant Professor from the English Language Center-Department of Humanities, Islamabad Campus conducted this session and shared tips on how to attempt the different sections of the test.

The session was divided into four (04) sections (a) Listening (b) Speaking (c) Writing and (d) Reading and for each section short demos and exercises were conducted.

A good number of students, some faculty and staff members attended the session. The participants acknowledged the usefulness of the session and showed interest in attending an extended workshop on IELTS.

The workshop was organized by Directorate of Planning, Development and Human Resource Development.

2nd Training Session of Student Startups Cohort/Batch-9 was held on 25th October, 2021, at CUI-SSBC. Wherein Mr. Danish Ahmad Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Science delivered a session/talk titled “The Business Plan” from 10:00 am to 11:30 hours. I. Background

The ANSO-BIDI Institute Network partners with international organization such as Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) and multiple universities and institutions. The chair partners with Politecnico di Milano in Italy, which will ensure the collaboration with European perspective. Furthermore, with University of Toronto, RiskLab as a partner, it will also be ensured that the internationalization of the chair will also include the American perspective. The chair also partners with The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Thailand, University of Donja Gorica (UDG) in Montenegro, the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) in Pakistan, National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Armenia (NASRA) in Armenia and Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh. The collaboration with these institutions be strengthened and will continuously contribute to the proposed project.

Besides, 2020 Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) Training on Sustainable Development and Leadership Enhancement has successful held in February 2021. This training project is promoted and supported by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), relying on its institutional platform of multilateral cooperation and the Overseas Science and Education Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, which makes the member of related organizations in the Belt and Road region have more opportunities to participate in the B&R Initiative so as to improve leadership and the capabilities of organizational management, risk management, resource integration and deployment. Trainees can benefit from it by effectively participating in the development cooperation of B&R, seizing new opportunities to achieve sustainable development, and be able to contribute to the growth of global economic integration. With its strong faculty and comprehensive curriculum, this project attracted nearly a hundred trainees from 15 countries around the world to participate in the training. Based on the above and as a start to build our mutual collaboration this year, we plan to announce the opening ceremony of the B&R International Innovation Development Institute Network (ANSO-BIDI Institute Network) and will simultaneously carry out the ANSO-BIDI School launching ceremony.

II. Purpose

Through the exchanges and interactions among the trainees of BIDI School, the interconnection of science and technology innovation in leading countries is expected to be promoted. Besides, it is designed to increase consensus on sustainable development within the B&R area, and to increase mutual understanding as well as form a long-term training and exchange mechanism. And by sharing advanced concepts of sustainable development and leadership capacity and the international diversified exchanges and interactions during the training, the project hopes to promote the in-depth development of scientific and technological cooperation and increase the influence of the Belt and Road Initiative.

III. Training Form

The training project consists of about 10 modules which lasts for 3 months, every one or two modules will be conducted in every two weeks. Please refer to the table in the training schedule for the specific teaching schedule.

The above content is the initial version, and we will make reasonable adjustment according to the organization and country that enroll in the training. If there is any adjustment, we will inform trainees at the first time.

IV. Trainees of BIDI School

The trainees come from the following organizations/institutions (Currently in the enrollment stage, students include but are more than that. The following rankings are in no particular order)
