The International Office in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) organized a student focused event titled “Studying in Germany” on 17th December 2018. The Director DAAD in Islamabad, Ms. Inge Iqbal was invited as the resource person at the event.

Located in the heart of Europe, Germany is a country with rich culture offering best education and research facilities which makes it amongst the top study destinations in the world. Ms. Inge delivered a very insightful presentation on the wide range of higher education opportunities available in Germany covering all the aspects from admission requirements, application and visa processes to living costs and part time employment and internship possibilities for international students. She informed the audience that in almost all public universities of Germany, the higher education is free of cost. In her talk she highlighted the strongest aspect of German higher education system which is the unity of teaching and research, as a good number of globally leading German brands engage actively in research with the universities.

Later, the enthusiastic student audience asked various questions relating to language, boarding and study programs available. Ms. Inge Iqbal gave detailed answers to their queries and concerns and shared useful information websites with them for further guidance and help while applying to German universities.

To provide the students with firsthand information on their study experience, German Alumni working at CUI, Dr. Aurungzeb Khan and Dr. Sundus Javed also spoke at the event. They commended the high quality of education, the best research facilities, the disciplined and smooth running of processes in Germany. Dr. Sundus encouraged the students to pursue their MS and PhD studies in Germany as it provides and ideal opportunity for independent learning.

In his closing remarks, Senior Manager, International Office, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch thanked Director DAAD for providing detailed information about study opportunities in Germany and appreciated the 9-year long cooperative relationship of CUI and DAAD. He welcomed the German professors to come and teach at CUI for short- and long-term durations. To honor the guest, a CUI memento was presented to her.

To close the event on a happy note, a friendship cake made of Pakistani and German flags were cut by Ms. Inge followed by a group photo.

Business Plan Development Training Program session on "Operating for Success" by Dr. Sardar Muhammad Zahid was organized on 14th May, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at SSBC ground floor hall, CUI, Islamabad.

The session covers the important concepts of supply chain management. Supply chain management involves optimizing your operations to maximize both speed and efficiency. Speed is important because customers value fast service. Increasing speed, however, can cause costs to skyrocket, so maximizing efficiency is equally important. The session was attended by enrolled startups of Batch-IV.

Centre for Policy Studies in collaboration with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has organized a briefing session on youth electoral education and awareness at ECP Secretariat Islamabad on May 26, 2018. The purpose of briefing was to educate, create awareness and provide motivation to youth for participation in electoral process in 2018 general elections. Students, faculty and officials from CPS participated in a briefing session.

Dr.  Akhtar Nazir, Additional Secretary Administration and Elections gave a detailed briefing on electoral procedures, processes and preparation made by ECP for ensuring transparent, fair and free elections. He elaborated salient features of Election Act 2017 and shared the statistics of preliminary Electoral rolls-2018.

Mr. Muhammad Khizer Aziz, Director Information Technology (IT) briefed the participants regarding the use of IT particularly Geographic Information System (GIS), Result transmission System and use of cameras for security reasons. He also explained the basic features of ECP online application/portal and suggested to download it on cell phones for latest updates from ECP. He urged to verify vote before 30th April (last date of voter registration/verification) by sending NIC number on 8300.

Brig (R) Muhammad Naeem Akhtar Qazi, Director General Administration and Mr. Zaffar Iqbal Hussain, Additional Secretary Training, Research and Evaluation motivated CIIT students to in electoral process and urged them to come forward to cast vote on election day.

Dr. Muhammad Shakeel Ahmad, Assistant Professor from Centre of Policy Studies (CPS) thanked ECP for collaboration in the field of electoral education and awareness. Abaid Ullah, Manager CPS has highlighted the upcoming scheduled events related to electoral education and awareness in the future.
