In order to promote collaborative research and academic activities in the fields of biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, sensors and biosensors and allied areas, a Virtual Document of Understanding (DoU) Signing Ceremony between COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus’ Interdisciplinary Research Center in Biomedical Materials (IRCBM) (https://lahore.comsats.edu.pk/ircbm/) and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) – a state defence university of Sri Lanka (https://www.kdu.ac.lk/) – will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 1130 hours (Pak time) and 1200 noon (Sri Lankan time).
On behalf of CUI, Honorable Rector, Prof. Dr. Muhammad T. Afzal whereas on behalf of the KDU, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind), will sign the DoU.
It will be a source of pride for CUI and KDU that the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka (H.E. Maj. Gen. (Retd) Muhammad Saad Khattak), and the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pakistan (H.E. Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama RSP VSV ndc) will also participate virtually.
The DoU will be signed under some particular obligations set for both parties like joint supervision of postgraduate students in the fields of mutual interest; conduct bi-institutional workshops in both countries; exchange of scholars and scientists to conduct research of mutual interest; exchange of senior faculty for lectures on short term visits; invite scholars for participation in conferences, symposia and training courses; exchange of information, academic materials and publications in fields of mutual interest; cooperation in the delivery of courses and lectures through videoconferencing and webinar technologies and facilitation of collaborative arrangements with the researchers and international research centers, whenever required.
