Dr. Latif talked about the definition of summer monsoon onset and its interannual variations, large-scale dynamics associated with the arrival of monsoon, the spatiotemporal variability and trends of the monsoon rainfall, as well as the associated physical mechanisms responsible for the monsoon rainfall over Pakistan. Dr. Latif concluded that extra-tropic phenomena could be one of the triggers of the monsoon onset over Pakistan, as well as responsible in maintaining the mean rainfall over the country.
