Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence

Program Overview

The BS (AI) program gives the students an in-depth knowledge they need to transform large and complex scenarios into actionable decisions. The program and its curriculum focuses on how complex inputs — such as knowledge, vision, language and huge databases — can be used to make decisions to enhance human capabilities. The curriculum of the BS (AI) program includes coursework in computing, mathematics, automated reasoning, statistics, computational modeling, introduction to classical artificial intelligence languages and case studies, knowledge representation and reasoning, artificial neural networks, machine learning, natural language processing, vision and symbolic computation. The program also encourages students to take courses in ethics and social responsibility, with the opportunity to participate in long term projects in which artificial intelligence can be applied to solve problems that can change the world for the better — in areas like agriculture, defense, healthcare, governance, transportation, e-commerce, finance and education.

It is a four years program consisting of eight semesters. The maximum duration for completion of this degree is twelve semesters. The degree is awarded on completion of minimum 133 credit hours, including six credits for the project, with a passing CGPA of at least 2.0/4.0.

Mission Statement

The mission of the BS(AI) program is to provide high quality education in artificial intelligence that prepares students for professional careers and lifelong learning in developing / managing intelligent processes and systems, with emphasis on computational modelling, knowledge representation and reasoning, data driven architectures, machine learning and developing / deploying scalable Intelligent Systems.

Program Educational Objectives

To meet the needs of our constituents, our Program Education Objectives state that within a few years of graduation our graduates will have:

  1. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the main areas of the body of knowledge and the theories of artificial intelligence, with an ability to exercise critical judgment across a range of related issues.
  2. Critically analyze and apply a range of concepts, principles, and practices in net-centric computing, machine intelligence, management of data driven architectures and intelligent systems; showing a range of problem solving skills and effective judgment in the selection and use of corresponding tools and techniques.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to work as an individual with minimum guidance and as a leader/member of a team.
  4. Follow appropriate practices within a professional, legal, and ethical framework.
  5. Identify mechanisms for continuing professional development and life-long learning.

Career Outcomes

Artificial Intelligence is primarily concerned with intelligent processes, the structure and procedures to represent them, and the systems for their implementation. Advancements in technology mean there is no shortage of need for computer scientists in today’s world. Training in BS(AI) program will expose you not only to technical positions but many inter-disciplinary careers too. The following list provides some examples of positions, a graduate of BS(AI) might hold: AI Programmer, Computer Engineer, Information Systems Analyst, Software Engineer, Systems Analyst, Visualization expert, deep learning architect, machine learning scientist, research scientist, NLP engineer, data engineer and computer vision expert.


Students are eligible for admission if they have Intermediate or equivalent (‘A’ Level) with minimum 50% marks from accredited institution and *NTS-NAT test score with minimum 50% marks.
