In 2010, the Endowment Fund launched its first programme aimed at encouraging talented students hailing from families with low incomes to get enrolled at CUI.
In Fall-10, nine undergraduate scholarships were awarded. Effective, Fall-11 the programme was considerably extended when fifty scholarships, per year, were announced for a period of ensuing four years. Under this programme, there will be 200 beneficiaries in the fourth year.
In the fifth year, there will be a fresh intake of 50 awardees, whereas the first batch of 50 will pass out from the respective campuses. Thus, after year-4, there will PERPETUALLY be a group of 200 awardees benefitting from this programme. At this point of time we would be disbursing Rs. 60 million Existing programme may be named as CUI Endowment Fund Scholarship
The programme, known as the CUI Endowment Fund Scholarship (CIITEF) is a merit- cum-need based scholarship that makes pursuing higher education possible for those who, with their limited financial resources would have never thought of seeking admission at a prestigious university like CUI.
The CIITEF Scholarship is aimed at supporting talented and deserving students at various campuses. It covers the students’ entire fee while they are enrolled at CUI, which could vary from eight to 10 semesters, depending upon their degree programme.
With the passage of time and growth of the Endowment, the income from the Fund will be utilized to support other endeavors of the Institute, as well.
Financial Assistance for Walk in Needy students (FAWNS) Management Committee of the Fund in its meeting held in January, 2013 approved the scheme to provide financial support to needy students. Any student of CUI can submit its application on plain paper to the Endowment Fund administration. To keep transparency in the process of award of financial support, a three member committee is constituted. The committee evaluates the students for the award of financial support and submits its recommendations to the competent authority for approval. As on today more than 300 students have been provided financial support under this scheme.
