Prof. Dr. Shahid Ahmad Rajput specialises in Islamic Art and Archaeology. He completed his Masters in Islamic Art and Archaeology under the supervision of an eminent Professor Dr. Geza Fehrvari in 1991 from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Soon after the completion of his Master degree he worked for one year at the archives of the British Museum for his PhD research. He was then invited and joined the Dept. of Archaeology as consultant archaeologist for completing the "Architectural and Hydraulic Studies of a 16th century Mughal Garden at Wah". He worked for nearly two years in this position and completed the excavations and published his excavation report. He then joined the Ministry of Cultural, Federal Government of Pakistan as the Secretary of the National Fund for Cultural Heritage (NFCH) where he worked for ten years. He was then selected at UNESCO as National Program Officer for Culture (NOP/CLT) and continued his job at UNESCO for one and half years. During this time he completed his PhD and joined the academia - his passion. He worked at various Universities as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department and established the new Department of Islamic Art and Architecture at IIUI. In the year 2011 he won the Fulbright Fellowship award for his Post Doctoral research and went to the University of Wisconsin, Madison for one year 2012-2013. He is now working as Professor at the Dept. of Architecture, teaching History and Philosophy of Art and Architecture and History of Civilisations, Research methods and supervising/guiding in thesis writing. Designing curriculum; Developing projects for funding; Organizing international conferences etc. He is an active member of several national and international academic organisations.
