After 2.5 years of service as Geologist in Azad Kashmir (AKMIDC), I joined Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) in 1975 as Geologist. During this period I worked on exploration of carbonatites for uranium, phosphates and rare earth elements. I also worked on Siwaliks in Bannu Basin and succeeded in locating a uranium prospect at Shanawah, where a good uranium deposit has now been established.
In 1986, I joined Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology (PINSTECH) and became Head of the Nuclear Geology Group. From PINSTECH, I have been providing laboratory support to the field parties involved in the uranium exploration by planting and analyzing thousands of detectors exposed for uranium exploration in Isakhel, D.G. Khan, Sind and some other areas. I also produced useful results on the earthquake prediction and position of Main Boundary Fault around Islamabad using Radon Measurements. Our results on earthquake prediction were 66% correct. For the interpretation of the geological history and modeling of mineralization in carbonatites I established useful data on geological dates on various rocks in Pakistan. I determined an age of 255 Ma on the rocks from Antarctica, indicating the existence of a Mega-Continent "The Gondwanaland".
I was posted to Directorate of Nuclear Fuel Cycle (DNFC) at PAEC, HQ in 2005 to look after the liaison between DNFC and subordinate office of DNFC dealing with uranium exploration and mining, their procurement issues, manpower training and Project Management & Coordination activities. I have also been involved in coordination of Public Sector Development Programs of Planning Commission of Pakistan with the exploration and mining schemes of PAEC. I also carried out the evaluation of progress reports, data compilation concerning exploration and mining, preparations of reports for commission, council and other meetings and preparation/follow up of PC-Is & PC-IIs etc. After retirement in Feb., 2007, I was appointed as advisor to Member Fuel Cycle of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Islamabad for two years. Currently I am working as Advisor in the COMSATS institute of Information Technology, Islamabad.
I have produced 100 research publications/reports and presented 21 papers in conferences. I have been awarded 4-Gold Medals by Peshawar University (1973), PAEC (1990) Punjab Geological Society (1999) and Pakistan Academy of Sciences (2008). I was declared as 2nd best Geoscientist in Pakistan by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology. I was a member of ETA, Peshawar and NTS, Islamabad. I have been the Editor of the Earth Sciences Section of the quarterly Journal of PAEC "The Nucleus". In view of 35 years of service, four Gold Medals, 100 research publications/reports, useful support for uranium exploration program, and involvement with minerals sector other facts mentioned above, I can carry out research as well as secretariat job in any scientific organization.
