Dr. M. Qaiser Fatmi graduated from University of Innsbruck, Austria and received his Doctoral Degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in the field of Molecular Modeling and Computational Chemistry. After working in renowned national and international universities like International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi (ICCBS, Karachi), University of California, Riverside Campus (UCR, USA), Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU, Islamabad), he joined COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad (CIIT) as an Assistant Professor and soon secured Associate Professorship. He is considered among pioneers in the country, who started working on Quantum Mechanical based Molecular Dynamics Simulations of chemical complexes and initiated a new computational chemistry/biology era in Pakistan by establishing groups and publishing papers. He is also considered among the first Pakistanis who received Doctoral Degree in Molecular Modeling/Computational Chemistry and started contributing to the scientific world from Pakistan.
Dr. Fatmi has in-depth training in both Molecular Mechanical and Quantum Mechanical Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Organic, Inorganic and Biomolecular Complexes to understand the structure, dynamics, thermodynamics and reaction mechanisms of complexes.
Keeping in view of health issues all over the world and particularly in Pakistan, Dr. Fatmi got extensive training in biomoleculer modeling, simulations and molecular docking from USA and Brazil.
Dr. Fatmi is a recipient of Science and Technology Grant South East Asia for his Doctoral Programme (2004-2007), provided by Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture. His contribution to organize a “2-Day Vice Chancellors' forum on Higher Education in the Islamic World: Challenges and Opportunities” (June 2012) has been recognized by CIIT Islamabad, through a letter of appreciation. He has also been selected to attend a fully funded course on “Advanced Topics in Computational Biology: Agrochemicals and Drug Design ” conducted in Brazil (April 2012).
He has 25 research papers to his credit published in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals with a cumulative impact factor of 75.
