Biography:
Abdul Majid Qureshi earned his Bachelors in Pharmacy (2008) from Hamdard University, Karachi (Islamabad Campus), securing overall 3rd position, and later Masters (M.Phil) in Virology and Immunology (2011) from the NUST Center of Virology and Immunology (NCVI), Islamabad as NUST Merit Scholar. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
Abdul Majid served the Oral Production Department of Scotmann Pharma, Islamabad, and Injectable Production Department of AMSON Vaccines and Pharma, Islamabad, as Production Pharmacist in 2008. During July 2009 - 2011, Mr. Qureshi was engaged in teaching undergraduate Toxicology and Biosafety Courses at NCVI, where he was also a part of other specialized teams including the Corporate Advisory Council (Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals), as well as Working Group on Laboratory Animal House.
In October 2011, he joined the School of Pharmacy, University of Lahore, as Lecturer (Basic Medical Sciences).
In April 2013, he joined COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, and was deputed to the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), where he served as Research Scholar (Executive Director's Secretariat). He coordinated International capacity building programmes on National Innovation System (NIS) and Intellectual Property, ICT4D, Biosafety and Biosecurity as well as Science Communication & Journalism, and Science Diplomacy, engaging with partner and subsidiary organizations of COMSATS Secretariat including UNESCO, ISESCO, ECOSF, PAS, PSF, TWAS, CIS, INIT and CIIT among others. During his tenure at COMSATS Secretariat, he gained experience in programmes of bilateral/multilateral S&T cooperation, Science diplomacy and successfully organized scientific capacity building events in Pakistan, Tunisia, Jordan and Morocco. He is also an alumnus of the AAAS-TWAS Summer Course on Science Diplomacy (2015), Trieste, Italy.
Abdul Majid Qureshi joined the Centre for Professional Development, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in September 2016, where he designed and implemented several programs of professional and executive development, particularly forging strong linkages with the pharma/educational sectors. He was later posted as Assistant Manager, Cubator-1ne in August 2017, where he also served as Secretary, Cubator Board of Management, actively participating in policy drafting, operations management and administration; and encouraging Faculty/Student Startups through mentorship and creating a value driven culture.
Since August 2018, he is serving the CUI Rector's Secretariat (Principal Seat) as Staff Officer.
