Dr. Muhammad Abid is an Assistant Professor at Centre for Climate Research and Development, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad since March 2017. He received his Ph.D. in Earth System Sciences with specialization in climate sciences from University of Hamburg, Germany in 2017. In Ph.D. he conducted research on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation in the agricultural sector of Pakistan. He published more than nineteen peer reviewed publications including eleven papers in highly reputed impact factor international journals. He presented his research at various international conferences held in UK, Germany, Russia, France, China and Pakistan. Currently, he is working on three nationally and internationally funded projects related to climate change and food security, evaluation of climatic risks and flood risk management. Before his Ph.D., he had more than four year of experience working with different national and international research organizations. He worked for International Water Management Institute (IWMI) as Researcher-Agricultural Economics and conducted research on revitalizing irrigation sector in Pakistan. Further, he worked as Coordinator (Reforms) at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and studied institutional reforms in irrigated agriculture and conducted case studies in disputes resolutions through participatory management approaches. Moreover, he worked as Research Assistant at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad during his masters in an international project on economics on adopting Bt cotton in Pakistani Punjab. Further, he worked as consultant at AAB-Pakistan and supervised team of 12 researchers to conduct an impact evaluation study of National Program for Improvement of Watercourse in Pakistan (NPIW). Further, he worked with Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) as field researcher for project on Environmental Fiscal Reforms in district Abbottabad, KPK province, Pakistan. His key research interests include climate change vulnerability and impact assessments, economics of climate change adaptation, climate change, food and water nexus, livestock economics, Environmental Resource management, Food security and poverty, Institutions and governance related to agriculture and water sector, econometric modeling, agriculture sector and ecological modeling and social network analysis. Currently, he is in the advisory committee of one Ph.D. student at CIIT, Islamabad.
