It is my pleasure to welcome you to explore the Department of Health Informatics academic programs that very often team up to sculpture a health science graduate with a multidisciplinary background. Health professionals contribute to the delivery of health-related services for evaluation, identification & prevention of disorders, Electronic Health Record System (E.H.R) and Healthcare Information management systems (HIMS).Health Informatics is a multidisciplinary and multidimensional field focusing on collection, management, use of health related data, information and Knowledge.

The need for these professionals has now been realized and strategies are being evolved to scale up their number. This was realized much earlier at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), resulting in carving out in 2006 to train health informatics professionals of international quality.

The New Era of Health Informatics at the COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has been a center of research and educational innovation in health informatics. MS HI programs in health computer use as a tool.Health informatics has served as the academic home for professional, graduate education in health informatics. Those who have been trained in health informatics have come from and gone on to practice in diverse field including medicine, pharmacy, and public health computer science and management sciences roles in health system as policy leaders.

Throughout its 13years of history, the health informatics program at the COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has developed strong interprofessional research teams that engage health informatics for strengthening the future of health and health care and it has fostered engagement with the community and international partners in applying to improve health and health care. In doing so, the health informatics program has led the interprofessional discovery, application, and teaching of health information sciences to improve the health of individuals and communities is not only a time for reflection on the past it is also a time to look to what the future will hold for health informatics at the COMSATS University Islamabad .

The Faculty has pleasantly advanced and is still faithfully devoted to the betterment of teaching methods and techniques as well as towards a constantly healthier academic environment. Research and community service are two areas the Faculty is committed to as natural endeavors for a rising scholastic milieu that believes in employing health science for the benefit of humanity.

This is an exciting time for the field of health informatics. For example public and private hospitals implementation of electronic health records which guarantees continuing massive infusions of clinical data available for storage, analysis, and research. A major part of the alumni of health informatics our Graduates teaching in leading Middle East universities the vast amounts of data being generated from that will need to be analyzed and assessed for clinical utility in leading hospitals , will provide informaticians with an array of research opportunities that are of national policy significance.
