Tribute to Mantoo

Saadat Hasan Manto was a legendary Pakistani short story writer of Urdu language. He was best known for his short stories, Dhuan (1941), Bu (1950), Khol Do,   Thanda Gosht (1950), Khaali Botlein (1950)  Toba Tek Singh", and many others. Manto was a film and radio scriptwriter too  as well as a journalist. He published twenty-two collections of short stories, one novel, five collections of radio plays, three collections of essays, and two collections of personal sketches. Saadat Hasan Manto chronicled social issues.

Currently a tribute has been paid to the legend by Sarmad Khoosat, in his latest film Manto- an autobiography of the late author. Department of humanities invited the director and his team on September 18, 2015 at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology for a talk on the subject and sharing their journey of three years in the making of the film Manto.

The chief guests included Mr. Sarmad Khoosat and Ms Sania Saeed.The session was presented in the form of movie clips and a questio-answer segment where house was open to the audience. Sarmad Khoosat and Sania saeed gave detailed overview of the project and took time to answering questions raised by the excited attendance. The session ended with a beautiful recitation by Mr.  Saim  (student) dedicated  to Manto which gave a neat finish to the event.
