Objectives
Pakistan, as a developing nation with very limited resources, is struggling with the question of how to balance the research effort in nanotechnology between basic research, applied research and research in the areas of nanoethics and the environment. Fortunately, there is enough information available now that it could be beneficially utilized if this information could be disseminated from the international scientists who are already practicing in this area to scientists in Pakistan and surrounding countries. For this purpose, we propose to organize an International Workshop on Environmental Nanotechnology & Ethics in Pakistan with the following objectives:

1. Explore, jointly with the US, European, Pakistani and other Asian country scientists, scientific aspects of nanotechnology that are pertinent to the environment.

2. Describe nanomaterials based strategies that are being developed for the betterment of the environment.

3. Expose the scientists in the region to the concepts of ethics in general and environmental ethics in particular, as pertinent to nanotechnology.

4. Identify methodologies to implement technological and ethical practices for the promotion of environmental nanotechnology.
