Prof. Li Qingquan, President Shenzhen University (SZU), China together with his delegation comprising of Prof. Ming Hayan, Director of Discipline Development Office and Vice Dean of Graduate School, Prof. Ming Zhong, Dean of Computer Science and Software Engineering College, Prof. Zahng Xiaohong, Dean of Foreign Language College and, Prof. Zhang Han, Representative of Physics and Optical Engineering College, Ms. Gu Wei, Vice Dean International Exchange College and Muhammad Sadiq, PhD Researcher, Computer Science and Software Engineering College was given a warm welcome by the International Office team upon their arrival at Islamabad Campus on Friday, Feb 22, 2019. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen linkages, collaboration and engagements between the Shenzhen University and COMSATS University Islamabad. The officials from Higher Education Commission, Pakistan also accompanied the delegation.
The delegation was shown different facilities of the campus including class rooms, Labs, Junaid Zaidi Library, Student Services Center, Day Care Center, etc. The delegates were impressed by the state-of-the-art amenities available for the students of CUI.
The delegation had detailed meeting with CUI higher management which was chaired by Mr. Tahir Naeem. Director P, D and HRD, Prof. Dr. Shahid A Khan, Dean Engineering, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head International Office and his team were present in the meeting. Both sides shared highlighted facts and achievements of CUI and SZU through comprehensive presentations. While apprising about SZU and its high profile among Chinese universities, the Dean said, “SZU is the window of China to the world.”
During discussions in the meeting, ideas to establish S & T Park at CUI, establishment of Optical Electronics Department in CUI, cooperation in Bio Medical Engineering, sending more PhD students to SZU from CUI and working together on patents were deliberated. Officials from both sides agreed to mutually strengthen the lagging areas of both universities and share expert knowledge and good practices. HEC representatives also assured of HEC’s support for working on collaborative educational possibilities as per their regulations.
To formalize the collaboration, a Document of Understanding was signed between the two universities. The visit came to an end with exchange of pleasantries and a group photo.
The delegation left the campus with much admiration for the courtesy and hospitality extended to them by CUI officials during their visit.
