CIIT Showcased To 23 Diplomats Hailing From 21 Friendly Countries (December 12, 2017)

To relay a positive narrative and elicit better appreciation of Pakistan’s potential and prospects, CIIT today was showcased to a large cohort of 23 young diplomats, who were currently undergoing training at Foreign Service Academy, and hailed from 21 different friendly countries including Afghanistan, Algeria, Belarus, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Nigeria, Palestine, South Sudan, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

Upon arrival at CIIT Islamabad campus the young diplomats, accompanied by Foreign Service Officers, were warmly received by the International Office officials and Dr. Aneel Salman, HOD Management Sciences.  They were escorted to the office of the Rector who welcomed them and shared with them some key facts and information about CIIT.  Shields were exchanged, and snaps taken to record the memorable moments.

The diplomats were then shown around the EE labs, which they observed with interest and inquisitiveness.   

The visitors gathered afterwards at the Video Conference Room where, Mr. Arif Awan, Senior Program Officer formally welcomed them and highlighted the importance CIIT places on internationalization, by viewing it as a key element of its mission and a means to achieve distinction and competitive advantage. 

Subsequently, Ms. Samirah Elahi, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Dr. Sohail Ahmed and Dr. Toqeer Ahmed delivered informative presentations on CIIT, CPS, IR, and CCRD respectively. 

The general CIIT presentation highlighted CIIT’s history, campuses, growth, rankings, faculties, programs and internationalization aspects.  Whereas the departmental presentations highlighted introduction of the department together with its mission & objectives, activities, functional areas/focus areas, organization, projects, partnerships and future plans. They diplomats took interest in the presentations and asked good questions at the end.

The visit concluded by a working lunch which ignited interesting conversations and good company.  Presentation of souvenirs was the last activity of the event which was done with much warmth and flair.
