The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) presents its compliments and has the honour of referring to the subject cited above.
As you are aware, Metrology, Accreditation, Standards and Quality are important factors in the process of socio-economic development of countries. However, developing countries, especially the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) lack adequate knowledge and infrastructure in these fields. There is, therefore, an urgent need for capacity building of relevant organizations in the developing countries in order to enhance their expertise and to upgrade their infrastructure related to metrology.
In light of the above, COMSATS in collaboration with the TUBITAK National Metrology Institute (UME), Turkey, is organizing a Workshop on Metrology for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) on 26-27 November 2018, in Gebze Kocaeli, Turkey. The objective of the event is to enhance the knowledge-base, expertise and capacities of the institutions working in the field of metrology in the least developed countries, as well as to prepare a roadmap to uplift their metrology sectors. The brochure of the workshop is enclosed herewith for your kind perusal.
Availing this opportunity, it is requested that the senior scientists, experts, or policy makers in the field of Metrology may kindly be nominated to participate in the subject workshop as Resource Person/Speaker. Partial or full financial support will be provided to selected Resource Persons/Speakers.
It is requested that the filled-in Registration Form (attached herewith), CV, Passport Copy, and Abstract of Presentation of the nominees may kindly be sent to us by 10th October 2018.
