A high level delegation from Morocco Comprising Professor Idriss Mansouri, President, University of Hassan II De Casablanca, Professor Omar Assobhei, President, Sidi Mohammad Ben Abdellah University of Fe’s and Dr. Abdelilah Benmlih, Dean, Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah university of Fe’s accompanied by a senior HEC official, visited COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad, on Tuesday the 26th July, 2016.
Upon their arrival, the honorable delegation was warmly received by Incharge Islamabad Campus, CIIT, Professor Dr. RaheelQamar, Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, Advisor International Office, Dr. Khalid Riaz, Dean, Management Sciences and Mr. Fayyaz Hussain Senior manager HR. After being shown the campus and Library of Islamabad Campus, the delegates attended a meeting with higher officials of CIIT management, including Incharge Campus and different departmental heads. A detailed presentation was delivered by ProfessorRaheel Qamar, about CIIT focusing on, its rapid growth, achievements, research output, internationalization process and rankings, both at national and international tiers. The contributions and fast progression of Computer Science and Business AdministrationDepartments and concept and working of our Business Incubation Center, were also briefed during the meeting. The increasing efforts being made to adapt the concepts of smart class rooms, pet flip classrooms and group based learning in the classrooms were also discussed.
Professor Idriss Mansouri and Professor Omer Assobhei after appreciating the contribution of CIIT for advancement of Higher Education and Research within the country and at international level, briefed about the framework of their respective universities in Morocco and their high ranking, being in top 100 universities of Africa, having student enrollment of 100,000 students in each of their 12 universities across Morocco. It was further conveyed that upon the strong recommendation of His excellency, the Moroccan Ambassador to Pakistan, the presidents of both Moroccan universities are fervent on collaborating with CIIT with immediate effect, on, student and faculty exchange and joint research projects paying more attention to the areas of Science and Technology and Business Administration, for the communal educational advantage of both the countries.
To conclude the visit, a dinner was hosted in the honor of the Moroccan dignitaries, by the Rector CIIT, Dr. S M Junaid Zaidi. Other senior officials of CIIT were also in presence at the Dinner. The highlight of this dinner was, signing of an ‘Intent of Co-operation’ between CIIT and both Moroccan universities. This onset of cooperation will prove to strengthen the educational and international ties as well as the brotherhood between the two countries.
