Information Services
a) Reference Services
"Reference Services" is defined to include the professional advice and assistance provided by the library staff, from material in the library's collections or elsewhere, to assist individuals using the library or making enquiries by mail, telephone or on-line to meet their information needs.
It also include the range of information products, such as guides, directories and databases, and the equipment and facilities that are provided to enable research to be carried out to meet information needs.
CIIT library has dedicated staff to provide efficient and reliable reference services and users can make quarries by filling “Research Inquiry Form” and submitting it to Services department of library.
b) Bibliographic/Books Information Service
Library compiles bibliographies for users on request and provides information about national and international publishers and book traders.
c) Interlibrary Loan and Searching Facility
Regardless of the size, no library can meet the demands of readers and researchers independently. In order to facilitate researchers in their research, an inter-library searching option is also available in CIIT library. Users can search material available in the libraries of different campuses of CIIT, through Union Catalogue, and can request for desired literature from them. Users can request library staff to help them getting their required literature from other libraries through interlibrary loan.
d) Electronic Document Delivery Services
Library has a rich collection of digital documents as it is subscribing more than 32,000 journals through HEC digital library programme. In addition to this thousand of digital documents, scanned newspaper articles are part of library and are accessible through CIIT digital library. Users can request for the delivery of documents in digital format by requesting to the staff of Electronic Resources Section of library.
e) International Lending and Photocopying Service
Library provides facility for international lending and photocopying service through British Library Document Supply Centre in UK and Library of Congress in USA. This service provides users opportunity to access books, journals and information resources which are not available locally. Library also provides facility of photocopying those items in accordance with copyright act.
