DICE Innovation Portal is:
- A match-making service b/w the needs of Industry and capabilities of Academia. Using DICE Portal, DICE members can subscribe to various domains, disciplines and industry types and get notified whenever innovations and queries submitted in those fields.
- A portal which allows academia to submit and market their innovations. Industry and government can benefit by transforming those innovative concepts into real products and services.
- A portal which allows industry and government to submit their needs/queries for Academia to work on. This allows Academia to work on research topics directly relevant to the Industry.
- A central searchable database of Innovations and needs/queries.
- A virtual platform for Academia, Industry and Government to communicate, collaborate and innovate together.

Mobile Monday
The idea behind the phenomenon that is Mobile Monday is to bring people concerned with mobile solutions and technology together. Since its launch in Helsinki, Finland, in the year 2000, it has grown into a global community with its chapters active in 60 cities worldwide. The community has attracted industry visionaries, mobile developers and other influential individuals. Virtual and live networking events enable sharing of ideas, best practices, and allow networking opportunities.
Mobile Monday’s objectives are geared towards an open and mobile internet with real broadband that opens up a host of possibilities. It aims to encourage innovation, facilitate networking and help local companies participate in international initiatives. Moreover, it also aims to present innovative vision, trends, studies and forecasts from the mobile market place, as well as contribute to the education of the broader public through its publications, online presence and media partnerships.

Centre for Excellence in Research (CER)
The Centre for Excellence in Research (CER) is based within the Management Sciences Department at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad. CER has a number of active researchers from across the Finance and Accounting, Economics, Management, Marketing, and Information Technology subject areas within the department. CER is established with a view to promote research activities that lead to high quality research output. Another aim of CER is to promote meaningful exchange of ideas and collaboration between regional industry and academics.
Objectives
CER has the following objectives:
A) To support high quality research within the department of Management Sciences, through promoting a research culture among staff and students and establishing and maintaining high quality research databases.)
This objective is pursued through the establishment of a ‘Research Committee’, initiating a ‘Research Seminar Series’, a ‘Discussion Paper Series’, encouraging staff and students to present their work at National and International Conferences’, and subscribing to useful databases within the department of Management Sciences..
B) To encourage and promote linkages with the industry and offer quality information and training programmes to commercial clients.
This objective is pursued through exploring opportunities for ‘Consultancy Work’ for the commercial clients, disseminating useful research work through arranging ‘Training Workshops’, ‘Conferences’, offering ‘Short Courses’, and through establishing and maintaining an active Alumni network and database.

Center for Quantum Physics (CQP)
The Centre for Quantum Physics (CQP), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, was established in July 2006 with the vision to carry out internationally recognized research in the field of Quantum Optics. The idea was initiated by Prof. M. Suhail Zubairy (S.I., H.I.), Professor of Physics, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas USA. The financial and structural support was provided by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and COMSTECH.
Currently, the Centre forms a core of 5 permanent faculty members and 1 visiting scientist. They are working together in close collaboration with foreign experts whereas Prof. Zubairy remains a strong force in setting up research directions of CQP and he plays a key role in arranging various research activities at the Center. Besides, the Centre also enjoys collaboration with prominent scientists from USA, China, Germany, Australia, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.
